Is it better to put the sign up for a free newsletter on the bottom of the page or on the top of the page?

I think it’s better to put the free newsletter sign up on the bottom of the page, however I have seen many brands be really successful using a popup to collect newsletter sign-ups. I would say, if you have a loyalty program where you incentivize your customers to sign up to the newsletter, you definitely want this to be close on your site to the loyalty program.
