How shopify accounts become subscribed email marketing customers


Trying to understand the process using shopify.

 

When a person creates an account on shopify, but does NOT click subscribe to email marketing, do they get an email asking them to subscribe to email so that they can join rewards or do they automatically get rewards?

If not, how do accounts get the rewards email? 

Trying to understand the process from people creating accounts, what messaging they recieve etc..how we can edit that - this way we can invite people off line in person at our POS to join.
