Last week, Shopify announced that subscription apps not integrated directly into Shopify Checkout will no longer be able to accept or process subscription orders after October 18, 2024. This means that brands currently using legacy checkouts will have to migrate.

What does this mean for your business? 

 

This change will directly impact brands utilizing platforms such as Recharge’s V1 checkout and Bold Subscriptions V1. Brands using these platforms will be required to migrate to the native Shopify Checkout. 

While migrations can seem tedious, this move will alleviate some common pain points with some of the legacy platforms, like catalog and discount duplications. 

In addition, Shopify Checkout is completely seamless for your customers. Legacy platforms typically feature a separate checkout, making customers uneasy about completing their purchases. 

Merchants have two options: migrate to the native checkout within their current provider or migrate to a new subscription solution.
